Trauma Makes Good News: What Clinicians Need to Know About the Media
This panel will present data from three different countries -- Canada, Japan and Australia -- on the impact of potential trauma exposure on media professionals, as well as first-hand reports from a working journalist. The presentation is intended for clinicians working with media practitioners or those who want knowledge of the broader ramifications in society of trauma exposure on the media profession.
Panelists include Cait McMahon, Patrice Keats, Kako Inoue, Gary Tippet, and Glen Bates.

Applications are due for the Dart Center Ochberg Fellowships for mid-career journalists who cover trauma.
Each year, the Dart Center provides expense-paid fellowships to mid-career journalists who want to apply knowledge of emotional trauma to improving the coverage of violent events.
Fellowships are open to print, broadcast and online reporters, photographers, editors and producers with at least five years of journalism experience. Fellowships are currently limited to journalists from the Americas, Europe and the Australasia.
Fellows will attend an intensive weeklong seminar program in Montreal, Canada, from Nov. 2 to 6, 2010, including briefings by leading interdisciplinary experts in the trauma field and discussions with journalist colleagues, and attend the annual conference of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
